James Palma, M.D.

Dr. James Palma is a gastroenterologist treating patients in New York City and the surrounding communities. He holds certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine and is affiliated with Mount Sinai West.  Dr. Palma is also a member of the American Gastroenterological Association. For his undergraduate degree, Dr. Palma attended the City College of New York, graduating summa cum laude. He pursued his medical degree at the Colombia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Palma continued his medical education at the St.  Luke’s -Roosevelt Hospital Center. Here, he received internal medicine residency training followed by a year of Chief Residency in medicine and a two year  fellowship in gastroenterology.

Dr. Palma's practice entails all aspects of gastroenterology including Irritable Bowel, Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease, liver/pancreatic conditions, abdominal pain, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and colon cancer  screening. Dr. Palma has given Grand Round  presentations on various topics including Esophageal cancer, GERD, Update on Proton Pump Inhibitors, Hepatitis B, Management of Ascites and most recently, Celiac Disease. All procedures are performed at West Side GI, a state of the art endoscopy center.
